The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE)
“The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is a super exciting program for young people aged 14 to 24, founded in 1956 by Prince Philip, husband of Queen Elizabeth II.
In Romania, the program operates under the High Patronage of Her Majesty Margareta, the Crown Custodian .
The program helps young people develop personal and leadership skills through four sections: volunteering, personal skills, physical activity and expeditions.
There are three levels of achievement: Bronze, Silver and Gold, each with increasing challenges.
About the project
Stand By Me
Stand By Me is a special project of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, created to help young refugees from Ukraine. This program provides mentoring, advice and resources to help these young people develop and adapt more easily in their new communities.
Partnership with PHONEO Association
We are proud to be a partner of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award in Romania from 2023. We implement both the DofE and Stand By Me programs.
Through this partnership, we provide young people in Romania and refugees from Ukraine with wonderful opportunities to develop their personal and professional skills, helping to raise a generation of responsible, courageous and engaged young people.
Testimonials
“It was a great opportunity for me to join this program. I learned to be consistent with my passions and realized the value of volunteering. The icing on the cake for me was Sergiu, my Romanian friend with whom I now share many memories and future plans.”
